My vision was to create a therapeutic clinic that feels like a home, a place you can kick up your feet, relax, and feel safe.
I am a practical therapist who is able to adapt to the needs of individuals and families to support them in their journey to discovering peace of mind.
My training in a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and play therapies allow me to be flexible in meeting your needs whether you are a child, teen, or adult.
Debbie Baty is a Registered Social Worker, with a Master of Education degree (Counselling). I have over twenty-five years of experience in a variety of areas, such as school, adoption, and child welfare systems. In addition, I have extensive experience treating stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting issues, separation and loss issues, and behaviour and emotional regulation difficulties. I utilize a client-centered and collaborative approach in order to achieve positive results for my clients.
In empowering individuals, children, and families to reach greater self-awareness, I use various approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Mindfulness and the use of play. My genuine, empathic, and open nature sets people at ease. Within this safe space children, adolescents and adults become comfortable to explore issues and begin their journey of healing. My goal: empowered clients leading healthy lives.
I work from a strength-based perspective and use a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and play therapies in order to work collaboratively with children, adolescents and their families in achieving their goals. I have experience in treating anxiety and stress, adjustment difficulties, trauma, and behavioural and emotional regulation difficulties in children and adolescents. I obtained my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from The Institute for the Psychological Sciences, in the Washington, D.C. metro area. At Peace of Mind Therapy and Consultation, I provide therapy services in both English and Spanish under the supervision of Dr. Penner Hutton.
Dr. Ichiyama is a registered clinical psychologist who specializes in treating adults and adolescents who struggle with mood-related disorders (anxiety, depression, traumatic stress). He primarily utilizes cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness strategies in his treatment approach. Dr. Ichiyama has extensive experience in adult ADHD assessments and has training and experience in the practice of sex therapy. His professional work experiences include being a university professor and a practicing psychologist in private practice, psychiatric hospitals, university counseling centres, public school systems, and community mental health settings.
I work collaboratively with my clients to assist them in reaching their goals. My integrative approach to therapy draws from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy skills (DBT), and client-centered approaches. I have experience in treating anxiety (generalized anxiety, phobias, panic), depressed mood, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and stress management. I attained my Masters in Clinical Psychology and am now completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba. At Peace of Mind Therapy and Consultation I provide therapy services under the supervision of Dr. Penner Hutton.
I offer an integrative therapy experience, drawing from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Client-Centred approaches. I have provided therapy in diverse settings including community-based and hospital environments. I have experience working with anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, stress management, and family dynamics. When working with children, I incorporate play and creative interventions to maximize results.I obtained my Psychology Bachelor of Arts-Honours degree from the University of British Columbia, and my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology degree at the University of Manitoba. I am in the process of completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba. I obtained my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manitoba (Behviour Modification Stream) and am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I completed a specialized internship/residency at the Marcus Autism Center where I provided behaviour analytic assessment and treatment to children with Autism and other related disorders (feeding disorders, language and learning issues, and clinical diagnostic assessment). I am well-versed in Psychological Assessment including cognitive, adaptive functioning, memory, and diagnostic assessments (e.g., for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, ADHD). My role at Peace of Mind Therapy and Consultation is to provide high quality Psychological Assessments for children and adults.
I offer Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, trauma, coping with chronic pain, coping with stress, and other difficulties with thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I value a client centred approach, and will work with you to tailor evidence-based treatments to your individual needs. I believe that the environments that we live and work in, and the people we interact with are important influences on our mental health, and will work with you to create health not only in yourself, but also in your life.

I work to tailor treatment to your needs and personality with the goal of alleviating suffering and increasing well-being in your life. I have significant experience in conducting and interpreting research, which helps to ensure I am using assessment and treatment methods supported by scientific study.

A lifelong respect for horses, combined with a strong belief in the value of experiential learning and an intense desire to help others, naturally led her to Equine Assisted Learning.
