Anxiety Group for Children Aged 9-12
This is a 6-8 week group designed to help your child understand anxiety, how it affects him/her, and what to do when feeling anxious. The group setting is beneficial because they learn that they are not alone in their worries/fears and are encouraged by the other members of the group.
This a a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach focusing on education about anxiety, skill building for coping with anxiety, and working with parents to increase their understanding of their child’s experience and what they can do to support their child.
8-Week sessions include two Equine Therapy sessions (at SymaTree Farm to build group cohesion and put skills into practice).

The first sessions are at the Peace of Mind office and focus on resource building (relaxation, mindfulness, and other types of resource development). The group then moves to SymaTree Farm where sessions are split between group therapy with the horses and practice of coping strategies.
